9-day Guided Group Ayurveda Cleanse

Ayurvedic Approach to Cleansing

Did you know that a significant portion of our daily energy – about 60% – is devoted to digesting the food we consume? Imagine if we could redirect some of that energy toward healing and rejuvenation.

This 9-day group Ayurveda cleanse is precisely designed for this purpose. Let’s explore what it entails:

  • Gentle Digestion: During the cleanse, we prioritize easy-to-digest foods. By doing so, we give our hardworking digestive tract a break. The result? Our body can focus on rest, repair, and renewal.
  • Banishing Ama: Ama, the accumulation of digestive toxins, can wreak havoc on our well-being. Symptoms like gas, bloating, fatigue, and brain fog often stem from ama. Our cleanse targets these toxins, helping you feel lighter and more vibrant.
  • Igniting Agni: Agni, the digestive fire, plays a crucial role. It’s like the body’s internal furnace. By jump-starting Agni, we enhance fat-burning capacity, reduce cravings, and soothe inflammation. Mental clarity follows suit.
  • Kindling the Fire: Before we expel toxins, we must kindle the digestive fire. This ensures that our body can efficiently process and burn the deeper tissues’ released toxins during the cleansing process.

An Ayurvedic cleanse focuses on these Essential Principles:

  • Individualized Approach: There’s no universal solution. Just as there’s no one-size-fits-all garment, no single diet, exercise routine, supplement, or lifestyle change suits everyone.
  • Food as Medicine: Unlock the healing power of food. It’s not just sustenance; it’s medicine that can restore health and vitality.
  • Seasonal Eating: Adapt your diet to the seasons. Each season aligns with specific elements and foods that strengthen your well-being.
  • Balance through Opposites: Like increases like, but opposites bring balance. Engage all five senses to absorb qualities that restore equilibrium.
  • Digestion Matters: You are what you digest and absorb. Even a clean diet won’t yield results if digestion is compromised. Fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, and depression often trace back to poor absorption of vital nutrients.
  • Holistic Nourishment: Nutrition extends beyond food. Through our senses, we absorb the world’s qualities, shaping our perceptions and overall health.
  • Wholeness of Health: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health encompasses a well-balanced mind, a well-formed body, and efficient elimination. When all three are in harmony, health naturally follows.

Ayurvedic Cleanse: Reset, Rejuvenate, and Nourish

Our Ayurvedic cleanse is a holistic journey that combines ancient wisdom with modern practices. Let’s delve into the details:

  • Daily Routines: We believe that consistency matters. Our cleanse incorporates daily routines—simple practices that ground you, calm your mind, and nourish your body. From morning rituals to bedtime routines, these habits support your well-being.
  • Emotional and Physical Balance: While our cleanse is gentle, it’s normal to experience occasional emotional and physical fluctuations. These ups and downs are part of the healing process. We’re here to guide you through it.
  • Toxin Elimination: Ayurveda teaches us that toxins (ama) accumulate in our tissues. Our cleanse pulls these toxins into circulation, allowing the body to eliminate them effectively. Say goodbye to gas, bloating, fatigue, and brain fog.
  • Kitchari: A cornerstone of our cleanse, kitchari is a nourishing blend of rice, split mung beans, ghee, and spices. It’s easy to digest and healing for the digestive tract. Plus, it’s a comforting staple during your cleanse.
  • Ghee: As the primary fat in our cleanse, ghee is not only easy to digest but also suitable for many—even those with dairy intolerance. If you prefer alternatives, we’ve got you covered.

The 9 days of the cleanse are broken down into 3 phases:

  1. Pre-cleanse: In addition to beginning to kindle our digestive fire, we slowly wean ourselves off of gluten, dairy, alcohol, meat, caffeine, and processed foods and sugars the week before the cleanse. This gradually eases us into the detoxification process, which generally reduces common cleansing symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and general aches and pains.
  2. Main cleanse w/Internal and External Oleation & Purgation: The middle three days of the cleanse we take ghee, or clarified butter, on an empty stomach in the morning. Ghee has a magical effect of penetrating the deeper tissues of the body, helping to loosen the sticky toxins lodged there. To support these toxins moving into the GI tract, so they can be expelled from the body, we encourage a daily self-massage with warm oil (called abhyanga) where our movements direct the released ama toward the center of the body. Once the toxins have been brought back to the GI tract, they are ready to be purged. One method for purgation is taking a small amount of castor oil - a strong laxative that serves to empty the intestines and bowels of these accumulated toxins.
  3. Transition: Preserve your hard work of the last 3 days by slowly reintroducing your normal diet. This is also the period of rejuvenation where we rebuild the deeper tissues.

Note: Five Points Ayurveda has a limited stock of Kitchari kits, ghee, and specific herbs that are optional but may be beneficial. Reach out for more details!

Winter and summer seasons bring joyous gatherings filled with abundant food, drinks, and desserts. However, as spring and fall arrive, many of us seek a reset for our food choices. Enter the 9-day Ayurvedic food cleanse, a pathway to rekindle your digestive fire and regain clarity.

Before diving in, consider these contraindications:

  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Menstruation during main cleanse
  • During Travel
  • Intense Work Schedule
  • Sickness or Recovery – body is weakened or in a debilitated state
  • Before/After Surgery or Chemotherapy
  • Antibiotics Use
  • Severe Mental-Emotional Imbalance

Important Note: If you are being treated by a doctor for any medical condition, speak you’re your medical professional before registering for the cleanse.

Yes! You may var your dates by up to 2 weeks, just let me know ahead of time so we can keep in touch. The instructions for each segment are clear and easy to follow. They will be available on my website after you have registered.

However, an important date to pay attention to is the night of day 6 of the cleanse. That night you will take a laxative (either prune juice or castor oil) so that the next morning you have complete evacuation. For 95% of people, this happens over a couple hours (or less) and otherwise you can go about your day amazed at how much energy you have and how great you feel! The “purge” is not going to mess up your whole morning on day 9, but plan ahead to give yourself until 9am for any big meetings.

Note: If you are menstruating, it is preferred that you are not bleeding heavily during the main 3-day phase of the cleanse. Please plan your cleanse dates to the best of your ability.

Over the years I’ve found that most folks appreciate Saturday or Sunday for prep work in the kitchen and like starting the cleanse on Monday but do what works best for you.
